If pants catching Velcro is a constant issue, you can buy Hook and Loop (Velcro) fastener in a strip or roll at any fabric store. Cut off the amount you need and place it over the exposed Velcro to keep your pants from catching. Should work, and a whole roll of 36″ is $1.50.
