What is the aim of duty of Candour?
Duty of candour means every healthcare worker must be open and honest with patients when something goes wrong with their treatment or care. It is a legal obligation that care providers must inform the people affected by the incident, offer reasonable support, provide truthful information and a timely apology.
What happens if you get a Datix?
Directly after you have logged an incident on Datix arrange of staff are notified of the incident via an email. This will go to your manager to investigate, but also go to members of the central safety team, governance teams and other managers and directors who have opted to be notified of incidents in their areas.
Is Datix confidential?
Datix reports are confidential, though not anonymous. As Dekker says (vividly), complete anonymisation may result in a situation where ‘the reporting system becomes the trash can for any kind of vitriol that practitioners may accumulate about their job’.
What has replaced NPSA?

When does NRLs apply to you?
The NRLS applies to you if your usual place of abode is outside the UK. This may be the same as your place of residence for tax purposes, but not always. For individuals, HMRC normally regard an absence from the UK of 6 months or more as meaning you have a usual place of abode outside the UK.
