We were founded as The New Teacher Project in 1997 by teachers who believed all students deserved great teaching. When we started out, we focused on getting great teachers to more students. Our Teaching Fellows programs prepared talented people with deep content knowledge to teach in high-need schools and subjects.

In both studies, the professional development had positive effects on some targeted instructional practices but not on others. Most critically, students of teachers who received the training scored no higher on subject-matter achievement tests than students of teachers who did not receive the training.
