How do Kamigawa flip cards work?

When one of the Champions of Kamigawa flip creatures flips, it becomes legendary. If more than one legendary permanents with the same name and the same controller are in play at the same time, its controller chooses one of them and put all the other in their owners’ graveyards.

Can Kamigawa flip cards be commanders?

If the pre-flip side is legendary, like [[Homura, Human Ascendant]], you can. If it is not, like [[Budoka Gardener]], you cannot. That said, if you want to run one of the non-legendary flip creatures as your commander, just ask your group if they’d be ok with it.

Do flip cards count towards devotion?

From memory a flipped card has the CMC of the face side but not the colours, so they don’t count for devotion.

Can a token flip MTG?

Pedantry: Tokens and copies of Flip cards can flip. Tokens and copies of Transform cards cannot.

What is the CMC of transformed cards?

If a permanent is copying the back face of a double-faced card (even if the card representing that copy is itself a double-faced card), the converted mana cost of that permanent is 0.

How do the flip lands work MTG?

For the one with lands on both sides, when you play the card, you decide which face you will be playing. The land enters on that face and stays like that for the rest of the game, which means you only get access to that face’s color. If you want to flip the land, you will need a card effect to flip it.

Can Bushi Tenderfoot be your commander?

You can not run Bushi Tenderfoot Flip as your commander. Bushi is not a legendary creature. While it is capable of becoming legendary, it is not legendary. So, it can’t be your commander.

Can Budoka gardener be a commander?

Budoka Gardener is a nice little commander who helps you ramp. Once you get to ten lands he flips into Dokai, Weaver of Life – who is the proper commander of the deck. Ramp, make some tokens, and try to keep alive. With 55 lands and a bunch of ramp cards, the remaining slots are very tight.

Do counters stay on transformed cards?

Transforming a permanent doesn’t affect any Auras or Equipment attached to that permanent. Similarly, any counters on the permanent will remain on that permanent after it transforms.

Does transforming remove enchantments?

No. When a creature transforms, even though it takes on new characteristics, it’s still the same object. On the other hand, if the Aura has a specific restriction on what it can enchant, and the transformed version of that creature doesn’t meet the criteria anymore, that Aura will fall off.

Can modal cards flip?

Modal double-faced cards can be played with either of their two faces up and can’t transform. See rule 712, “Double-Faced Cards.” One of two kinds of double-faced cards. Transforming double-faced cards default to their front faces but can transform to their back faces in some way.
