How do I organize my Sonlight books?

With Sonlight® being reader-based, I knew we would need lots of space to organize and store our books!

  1. Utilize Tall Shelving. This particular boxed curriculum has a lot of books, a lot.
  2. Use Baskets and Bins.
  3. Put Things Away.
  4. Put Things Back.
  5. Make It Easy.
  6. Create a Storing System.

How long does Sonlight take each day?

A. In the early years, a solid Sonlight day is from 1.5-3 hours. As your child gets older, that will increase. High school students may spend around 6-8 hours a day, depending on how deeply they want to to tackle subjects.

How do you organize books for homeschooling?

One way to organize your homeschool books is to keep the books for each curriculum or curriculum level you use, separate from the other books. We use cube organizers, which is a great way to keep the different curriculum together with all their books.

After dealing with shelf space and height, you may wish to categorize your books still further. Sort children’s books from adult books, and fiction from nonfiction. Sort “to do” nonfiction (gardening, drawing, exercising, birdwatching) from other types of nonfiction (history, art, biographies).
