Can you swim to Cape Romano?
There is a very strong current at the southern point of Cape Romano, this is where the land masses end and the flow of the Gulf opens up to the open seas. Be careful swimming, if you feel the current you are not in a safe place, go swimming north of the point.
How do I get from Marco Island to Cape Romano?
Cape Romano is located about 5 1/2 miles south of Marco Island…the only way there is by sea or air (no landing strips or pads, but I have seen a private chopper land on a nearby sandbar!). My husband and I kayaked from Caxambas boat ramp (Marco) to Cape Romano in our Hobie Oasis tandem kayak, which has peddles/fins. The full round trip to the dome homes and back was about 13 miles and took about 4 hours (includes some beach stops). It was an amazing trip and highly recommend.
