Are SRAM derailleurs compatible with Shimano shifters?

Will SRAM X4 work with Shimano shifter?
You can not mix Sram X4 with shimano rear derailleurs and you can not make the X4 shift like shimano. Your best bet is to buy some Shimano SLX shifters and use them with the shimano der’s that you have.

Should I get the SRAM RD or XT shifter?
I guess you can try and see how you like it. I recommend springing for the XT shifter for $60. IMHO the shifter is the worst part about SRAM. I only have 10 and 11 speed SRAM shifter experience, though. Everything in shifting is about the shifter, you touch it all the time. The RD (as long as compatible) doesn’t matter much.
