Are all air compressor pressure switches the same?

Each one is slightly different, but in all cases the basic operation follows this pattern: With the air compressor plugged in, the user moves the lever to the ‘auto’ position, forcing electrical contacts inside the switch together to complete the circuit.

How do you test an air compressor switch?

With air applied to the pressure switch, place one lead of the ohm meter to one of the loose wires, and the second lead to the second loose wire. The air pressure switch should close when air is applied. If the switch closes, the ohm meter will read zero ohms, indicating the air pressure switch is good.

Can Viair compressors be mounted upside down?

You can mount in any direction or position since VIAIR compressors are oil-less. The only position we do not recommend is an upside-down mount, since heat tends to travel upward, and does not dissipate well in the motor housing.

What is a 4 port pressure switch?

This pressure switch features a fixed differential, an actuated diaphragm, and contacts designed to open with rising pressure. It is designed to control electrically driven air compressors and pumps.

What would cause an air compressor to not turn on?

If the compressor won’t start with air in tank, replace the check valve. If the compressor won’t start with an empty air tank, replace the pressure switch if it isn’t activating the pump motor. Replace the pump motor if it doesn’t start when activated by the pressure switch.

Can you repair a pressure switch?

Because it gets so much constant use, the pressure switch is the most common failure point for a well pump. Fortunately, it is also easy to repair and replace.

What is the size of a viair pressure switch?

Viair pressure switch is a pressure switch with 85 PSI on and 105 PSI off (1/8 inch NPT port). VIAIR VIAIR 1.13 ounces 2.5 x 1 x 1 inches China 90101 No Smooth 90101 90101 Manufacturer’s warranty can be requested from customer service.

When to turn on the compressor on a viair?

This does exactly what it is supposed to do; turn on the compressor when the tank pressure gets down to 90 psi, and turns off when the pressure gets to 120 psi. I am using it on a Viair 2 gallon tank with a Viair 45040 compressor mounted in an RV for airbags and other uses.

Can I use a viair 45040 compressor in an RV?

I am using it on a Viair 2 gallon tank with a Viair 45040 compressor mounted in an RV for airbags and other uses. It runs off the coach batteries on a fused circuit.

Does your compressor switch cut off before it reaches 120 psi?

Does the job but sometimes the switch cuts off before it fully reaches 120 psi. 8/10 times it will stop at about 110 psi. it may be due to my compressor line vibrating so much as my gauge cant seem to stay in one spot while building pressure, but oddly enough i can still get up to 120 psi sometimes. Purchased this for the hubby.
