What is a cobweb scarf?
A cobweb felted scarf is light and airy with thin areas and even holes. This is not traditional technique. With cobweb, wool goes in one direction. It requires unfolding and stretching wool rowing very carefully adding then various fibre. There are specific techniques of stretching wool and adding fibre.
How much wool do I need for a felted scarf?
How much wool would I need? If you are making an average sized Nuno Felted Scarf you will need about 2 metres of mulberry silk fabric, approx. 75-100 grams of wool tops, 20 grams silk fibre.
Can felt be Refelted?
This may surprise you but you can re-felt completely felted fabric. First you must undo all your hard work of coaxing those wool fibers to intertwine and lock during the felting process. This can be done easily by brushing it with a hand carder.
Can you needle felt a scarf?
Always needle felt onto a foam pad or specially designed brush. Do not push needles all the way through the foam pad or brush. More is better: the more times you push needle through the fiber, the more it will felt & the more securely it will be attached. Roll Pebbles yarn into balls to needle felt onto scarf.
What is felting wool?

How do you wrap a scarf with bubble wrap?
If you’re using bubble wrap, place a second strip on top of your scarf and roll it up from one end. Tie in 2 or 3 places with scrap yarn or nylon hose. Place your hands on the blind (bubble wrap) and begin rolling back and forth, all the way from your fingertips to your elbows, gradually increasing pressure.
How do you thin out a roving scarf?
Cover your table with plastic and lay down the blind or one strip of bubble wrap. Spread out and thin your roving by gently pulling it apart, keeping the fibers attached to each other but leaving gaps and thin areas. The width you want should be a little wider than your final scarf to allow for shrinkage.
