Where should arrow vanes be placed?
For the most part, you want your fletching about 1-1.5 inches below the nock end of the arrow shaft. So place one appropriately in your clamp, and then lay it against the arrow WITHOUT glue, just to make sure everything is lined up properly.
Which way should the index vane face?
Instead of pointing up, the index vane on a traditional bow typically points to the side, away from the bow. So if you have a right handed bow, the index vane will generally point to the right, and vice versa for a left handed bow.
Can you use super glue for fletching arrows?
Once the fletching comes off, it’s pretty much worthless. Regluing them doesn’t work well. Fletch-Tight Platinum is pretty good (all I use for Blazer vanes). Super glue will work but it tends to get brittle and ineffective after a short period of time.
How do you fletch aluminum arrows?
Registered. Just clean the aluminum shaft with 91% alcohol, MEK, laquer thinner or acetone. Wipe dry, fletch with Fletchtite or tape. They are easier than carbon.

How do you Fletch spin vanes?
Place the tape between two of the vanes. The idea is to wrap the tape around the arrow to trap the ends of the vanes, covering a couple of millimetres, without constricting their shape. Wrap the tape following the direction of the vanes. (For right-handed spin vanes, that’s anti-clockwise; clockwise for left-handed.)
Does the ODD fletching go up or down?
It was one of those, “DUH”-moments when I thought about it. It’s a DROP AWAY rest……….the fletchings aren’t in contact with anything as the arrow leaves the string. Therefore, it doesn’t matter which way the odd feather is pointing.
What is the difference between offset and helical?
When compared to a straight fletch an offset fletch was an average of 2-3 FPS slower which is not very much in the long run. A helical fletch is basically an extreme version of an offset fletch. The vane will no longer be straight but instead it will have a curve in the middle.
Does right or left helical matter?
It doesn’t matter which hand you shoot with. Fletchings spin the arrow the same direction regardless is your right or left handed.
How do you glue a vane to an arrow?
Clamp the vane and apply a layer of glue along its length in the groove that will sit against the shaft. Press the vane into place – making sure you get it the right way up! – and apply very light pressure to ensure the vane sits snugly against the arrow, and the glue bonds properly.
What vanes should I use for my arrows?
