How to adjust a BOV?
- To Adjust the BOV, rotate the cap, this increases the spring force on the piston,
- Rotate the cap clockwise in the direction of hard as marked on the top of the lid.
- To decrease the spring force on the piston. Rotate the cap anti-clockwise in the direction of soft as marked on the top of the lid.
What is Turbosmart dual port?
Dual Port vents both to the atmosphere and back into the air intake. Ports with sequential timing allow quieter operation during everyday driving while getting all the benefits of a vent-to-atmosphere BOV under race conditions.
How does a dual port BOV work?
A dual port BOV uses a valve section that is activated by low pressures, like those encountered during idle or slow speed driving. At higher speeds and pressures, a secondary valve opens to relieve the large quantities of back pressure produced when the throttle is released.
How do I use Turbosmart boost controller?
- Apply full load to the engine in a high gear (at least 3rd or 4th gear) at full throttle and note the boost pressure.
- To increase boost rotate the Boost Dial clockwise (maximum of 1 complete revolution at a time)
- Apply full load to the engine and note the boost pressure.
Is BOV supposed to be open at idle?
It (bov) should be closed at idle. If it’s open at idle, it means your bov is broken.
Where do I plumb my back BOV?
Identify a suitable location along the intercooler/intake piping for the BOV – this will need to be between the outlet of the turbo and the throttle body ideally between the throttle body and the intercooler (See diagram below).
How does boost tee work?
Boost pressure is delivered to the actuator via a small hose from the compressor outlet, thus forming a control loop. As the boost pressure rises, this pressure begins to open the wastegate via the actuator to slow the build up of boost until the set level is reached.
Why is my BOV opening under boost?
The valve relies on the manifold connection to provide boost pressure to keep the piston shut under boost. If there is a leak or kink in the hose, the pressure will be uneven on the top and bottom of the piston, causing it to open.

How do I adjust the range of my Turbosmart blow-off valves?
Most Turbosmart piston-type blow-off valves offer a small range of adjustment by rotating the unit cap in the “Harder” or “Softer” direction, with the exception of the Kompact EM and the Kompact Plumb back, which don’t require this feature.
What spring pressure do Turbosmart wastegates come in?
Many of the Turbosmart wastegates are offered in pre-set PSI ratings, such as 7 PSI or 14 PSI. In most cases, these wastegates can be customized to different spring pressures (either higher or lower) at little or no additional cost.
