TfL is providing free travel for all runners and officials on the Tube and Docklands Light Railway (DLR) until 5pm (by showing official Marathon tabard or race number) and to clear the way for participants, buses will be diverted and some roads closed.
How hard is it to get into the London Marathon?
Most people apply to get in through the ballot. Every year a new record number apply, with 457,861 entering the ballot for the 2020 London Marathon. The ballot is completely random, and around 17,000 people get in, so give it a go and don’t just assume you won’t be chosen.

The easiest way to get to the three start areas (Blue Start, Red Start and Green Start) is to travel by train. Blue Start or Good For Age runners should travel to Blackheath station.
