Where is Lake Sara?
Lake Sara was dedicated on November 10, 1957 as a water reservoir for the City of Effingham, Illinois. Lake Sara is an 800 acre lake, with 27 miles of shoreline located 4 miles west of Effingham.
Is there a good lake to play on near Effingham?
Not to mention you have to get a sticker to from the Effingham Water authority to be on the water and its not cheap at all. Its close and convenient to Effingham but there are far better lakes to play on. I’ve stayed on this lake several times.
Where can I see fireworks on Lake Sara?
Come enjoy a fantastic display of fireworks shot over our beautiful lake! The show starts at 9:05 pm on Saturday, July 5th. It can be viewed from your boat on the lake, from private docks, or from the Lake Sara Beach (take Lake Sara Road S from IL-32/33 to 4-way stop; right on Moccasin Road; left on Beach Road to beach).

Lake Sara is for fishing only. Located at Effingham, Illinois in Central part of the state – The lake is not very wide so there is lot’s of “wake” from water craft in the area.
What is it like to visit Lake Sara?
A sunny afternoon slalom skiing behind a powerboat or running along the beach… that’s Lake Sara. A family picnic in the grass at water’s edge or a family reunion, with fried chicken and the works, under one of the pavilions… that’s Lake Sara.
How many boat ramps are at Sahara Woods?
Currently only two boat ramps are located at Sahara Woods, one on the 98 acre Sahara Lake, and one on a 15 acre strip cut located to the east of Sahara Lake. Sahara Lake has a 10 horsepower or less motor restriction and all other strip cuts are electric motor only.
