First up: hand-dyed. “Hand-dyed” refers to a variety of techniques, from hand-painting to dip-dyeing. I use the term to refer to any yarn or fiber that’s dyed by a small company or an individual dyer, rather than a big industrial dye house.

With cellulose fibers, you must stir your dyebath frequently to avoid uneven dyeing, but wool dyes and their auxiliary chemicals are chosen to allow level dyeing without stirring the fiber.
How do you make Overdye fabric?
Fill a bucket with very hot water (I go for boiling most times), mix the dye in well. Then leave your garment submerged for a few hours. You can take it out almost straight away or even after a few minutes, but the colour will not be as strong or as deep.

Your wool needs to be felted. To felt your wool, soak it in a sink of really hot water or run it thru a cycle of hot water in your washing machine, then rinse in cold water. Dry it in your dryer till it’s good and dry. (Wash or soak like colors together so they don’t bleed.)
