Down Cathedral stands prominently on the Hill of Down, overlooking the ancient and historic town of Downpatrick. It is a special place steeped in history and prayer. Tradition holds that Patrick was buried on the Hill of Down and for over 1600 years Christians have worshipped on this site. They still do.

Where is Downpatrick Cathedral?
It stands on Cathedral Hill overlooking the town. It is one of two cathedrals in the Diocese of Down and Dromore (the other is Dromore Cathedral. The cathedral is centre point of Downpatrick a relatively new name for the settlement having only come into usage in the seventeenth century.
