I have known Curtis for one year now, and that cat is cool. I can count on him to play the coolest music at events and keep a party alive. I was thrilled when Curtis called me and asked if I was available to do some family portraits.
Here are a few:

I had a chance to interview Curtis Whipple (the DJ). I’ll be featuring my favorite wedding vendors over the next couple of months, so check back in!
Q: Favorite band EVER?
A: Styx. Come Sail Away is not the greatest song ever written, but it’s a good, solid song. Among the best from Styx. It’s the first song that ever spoke to me as a kid- like as opposed to my fathers music- It’s tough sometimes to see your dreams realized. The dreams you have as a kid for your future, but even when you can’t seem to find the pot of gold, you keep dreaming… and according to Dennis DeYoung, a gathering of angels appears above our heads and bear us up. Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away, Come Sail Away with me!
Q: Life is about……
A: It’s NOT about getting more stuff at the expense of your money, your time, your SOUL. Slow down. Live a little. Taste your food. Hug often. Laugh often. DANCE! Look at the clouds, mountains, flowers, trees…
Q: Favorite quote?
A: It’s a long one- Historians, Will and Ariel Durrant “the historians’ record records the extraordinary becuase it’s the exception, BECAUSE it’s extraordinary. Behind the red facade of war, politics, murder, divorce and suicide, were millions of orderly homes, devoted marriages, men and women troubled and happy with their children.”
Q: Where were you 12 hours ago?
A: Filling a water back pack to hike Sunrise Peak. The highest peak of all of the “urban” trails around Phoenix. It’s taller than Piestewa or Camelback.
Q: When was the last time you drove out of town and where did you go?
A: Two weeks ago. Santa Fe NM- Art, Music, good food.
Q: Have you ever been in love?
A: Yep
Q: Do you collect anything?
A: Rare coins
Q: How long have you been a wedding & event DJ?
A: 30 years this November.
Q: Weddings are awesome because…..
A: It’s a multi generational family group having an experience together.
Q: Give me two words to describe your family
A: Crazy awesome
Q: Two words to describe your business
A: That’s a tough one. I never intended for it to be my livelihood. I love what I do and as I continue to hone my craft towards perfection, the money always follows. As long as customers keep calling and it continues to be fun, I’ll keep doing it.
